FAQ
How do I contact you?
Call us at (407) 628-1625. If we are busy grinding stumps, we will return your call promptly. Communication is the lifeblood of our business and we take it seriously. In fact, when we go out for estimates we will notify you that we’re in route. If we are unexpectedly delayed, we will give a courtesy call. Good communication is key to getting your job completed in a timely and efficient manner.
When can you come?
Many times it will be same day service or next day service. When we come out for estimates, we bring our equipment and are ready to start once we have your approval.
What is stump grinding?
It’s actually vertical stump cutting rather than a grinding action. It’s a very effective way of eliminating nuisance stumps and is a low cost, and low impact, alternative to excavating a stump. Here’s what it looks like in action.
How much do you charge?
Minimum charge is $65, which usually covers a 16” stump. We do not charge for estimates. See our Pricing page for complete details.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry General Liability and Workers Compensation.
Are you licensed?
Yes. You can download a copy of it here on our License page.

Can you grind a stump that’s in my backyard?
Yes. We only need 36” to fit our stump grinder through a gate or walkway.
Do I need to be there for you to grind the stump?
No, we just need access to the stump(s) and a way to contact you with questions, authorization and approval to do the job.
What can I replant once the stump is ground?
Normal stump grinding goes 4-6” below the soil line of the stump, making it ideal for laying sod, or planting annuals.
If I need deeper than 4-6”, what is the maximum depth you can grind?
Our smaller stump grinder, for backyards, has a maximum depth of 13”. This is measured based on where the stump grinder’s tires sit on the ground, but does not usually play a factor unless a grade is involved. Our large tow-behind unit has a maximum depth of 24”. Call us to discuss your particular situation.
How high, or tall, can the stump be?
We carry a chainsaw and can make an additional cut before grinding the stump. You don’t need to risk cutting it yourself.
Someone else started the job, but can’t complete it. Can you fix it?
Yes, just call us.
I used Tom’s Stump Grinding service 20 years ago, are you the same Tom?
Yes, one and the same. We wanted an easy to remember website address. Call us for the same great service.
